WHAT IS A TUMMY TUCK?
The midsection is an important area for men and women, but sometimes fighting the battle of the bulge is a losing venture. The fat on the abdomen is among some of the hardest to lose, even with a rigorous regimen of diet and exercise. Due to pregnancy, muscle can be separated in the midsection of the tummy. Tummy tuck surgery is a cosmetic procedure that removes excess skin and fat and repair the muscle separation to give you the toned appearance that you desire. Dr. Shah may recommend a full tummy tuck or a mini tummy tuck.
WHAT IS A MINI TUMMY TUCK?
Full tummy tucks help men and women who have issues above and below the belly button. A modified abdominoplasty technique, known as a “mini tummy tuck,” is used for patients who only have concerns below the belly button. A mini tummy tuck is not appropriate for patients who need tightening of the underlying muscles of the abdomen.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ABDOMINOPLASTY?
- Tones the midsection
- Can be combined with lipoto sculpt fat
- Addresses problems related to aging, weight loss, and pregnancy
HOW MUCH DOES A TUMMY TUCK COST IN nyc?

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM ABDOMINOPLASTY?
Abdominoplasty is an extensive procedure. The plastic surgeon needs to access the entire abdominal area, and this requires an incision that extends from hip bone to hip bone. If you are considering abdominoplasty, please consider the resulting scar. It will be mostly hidden by your underwear or bikini bottoms, but it will be visible to some degree.
After the incision is made, your plastic surgeon may use sutures to tighten the muscles if you are having a full tummy tuck. The skin and fat are pulled taut over the area and the excess is trimmed.
Recovery usually takes 2 to 4 weeks initially. Dr. Shah recommends taking 2 weeks off work. Final results from abdominoplasty can take six months to one year. You will need to limit your activities, including exercise and lifting heavy objects, until the plastic surgeon determines that the area has healed which is usually 3-4 weeks
