WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM RHINOPLASTY?

A nose job may involve an open or closed technique. The open technique is used for more advanced abnormalities inside the nose, such as deviated septum, scar tissue, and excess cartilage. The closed technique only requires an incision in the soft tissue between the nostrils.

Expect to have swelling, bruising (i.e., black eyes), bleeding, and other symptoms for the first week or so after your rhinoplasty. You will not be able to breathe through your nose or blow your nose until advised by your plastic surgeon. Patients should rest at home for at least one week, and activities will need to be limited until the plastic surgeon determines that the tissues are healed.

The goal of a nose job is not to give you a perfect nose; rather, it is to make changes to your nose that allow the feature to be in better proportion with your facial anatomy. This approach ultimately allows our patients to be satisfied with the results and preserves the internal structures of the nose and nasal cavity.
